SUMMARY:Responsible for managing the APC graphics department, personnel and process for all new or changing jobs. Coordinate the efforts of the art studios, customer graphics departments, engravers and APC presses to ensure a superior quality product and timely delivery of product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, as well as other duties as assigned.

  • Acts as the liaison between APC customers, art studios and engravers. This requires extensive verbal and written communication with all involved parties. Travel as needed to ensure quality levels are maintained at all phases of process.

  • Review artwork from start to finish; providing customers, studios and engravers with APC requirements. Preproduction meetings as needed with involved parties to review job requirements, limitations and specifications.

  • Communicate with APC sales and sales service to coordinate efforts of sales staff on specifications, limitations and quality. Communicate with internal APC staff on; scheduling, ink matching, raw materials and trials.

  • Create new layouts and provide engravers with APC purchase order requirements. Develop and maintain APC specifications for print tolerances, ink densities, proofing procedures and cylinder finishing.

  • Maintain a customer artwork file detailing each customer's needs as they relate to graphics, ie: color keys needed, proofs for approval, billing procedures.

  • Maintain a master color standard file and current press sheet file for all customers. Keep accurate records of all ink formulas used for each new design.

  • Develop a means for tracking all artwork from start to finish, providing the customer with a comprehensive look at the process and timeline. Maintain the AS/400 system for all new specification numbers, sizes and colors used.

  • Provide customers with price quotations for new cylinder work. Approve all cylinder invoices for payment.

  • Train and implement new procedures or SOP's as needed within the department. Schedule the graphics personnel.

  • Conduct design review meeting on a weekly basis with APC internal staff to address questions or specifications.

  • Set up routine meetings between APC and engravers to discuss quality issues, specifications, delivery requirements, etc. Evaluate new engraving plants as needed.

  • In this described position, you are required to be a member of APC’s Division Leadership Team. The Division Leadership Team has been designated as our Food Safety Team. Members of the Division Leadership Team are responsible to ensure that fundamental food safety practices are adopted and maintained. The Division Leadership Team also ensures that adequate resources are available to achieve food safety objectives and support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of SQF System. The Operations Manager is the designated backup for the Graphics Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not necessary

  • Acceptable prior work history

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
