Stratford Community School District Part Time Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in Stratford, Iowa

Position Summary:

Stratford Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to join our team. The ECSE Teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to preschool-3rd grade aged children with special needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment that encourages growth in academic, social-emotional, and developmental areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Instruction and Planning:

Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with families, specialists, and support staff.

Plan and deliver age-appropriate and engaging lessons that align with district and state standards while meeting the unique needs of each child.

Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and materials to support diverse learning styles and developmental levels.

2.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student performance and communicate progress to parents and team members.

3.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech and occupational therapists, and other service providers to ensure coordinated support for students.

Foster strong relationships with families, providing regular updates and resources to support learning at home.

4.

Classroom Management:

Establish and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

Implement positive behavior support strategies to promote social-emotional growth and appropriate classroom behaviors.

5.

Professional Development:

Participate in professional learning opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood special education.

Contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement at Stratford Elementary.

Qualifications:

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education.

Certification: Valid Iowa teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education.

Experience: Prior experience working with preschool-aged children with special needs is preferred.

Strong understanding of child development and evidence-based instructional strategies.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Working Conditions:

Part Time, school year position.
