Urbandale Community School District Delivery Driver in Urbandale, Iowa
JOB TITLE : Delivery Driver
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : Under general supervision, performs a variety of delivery services for the district including the delivery and sorting of mail and interschool mail. Delivers Bank Deposits daily to the bank. Assist Accounting Specialist with Vehicle Management.
REPORTS TO : Director of Business Services
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM : Director of Business Services, Accounting Specialist
12 Month position. 4 hours daily. This is a part-time position and is not eligible for health insurance benefits.
Beginning hourly wage: $17.78/hr

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to coordinate a delivery schedule.
Ability to safely drive a vehicle following all applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to operate machinery such as handcarts and hydraulic lifts.
Ability to understand the meaning of words and to use them effectively when speaking and writing to properly convey or receive information.
Must be able to interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, parents and other staff members.
Education
High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Additional training preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Valid State of Iowa Driver’s License required.
Experience
None required.
Equipment
Office equipment such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, scanners, multi-line phone systems, fax machines, copiers, and computers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Daily pick up and sorting of mail from the Post Office.
Deliver building mail and pick up from buildings.
Return outgoing mail to the Business Office.
Sort interschool and daily mail and take outgoing mail to Mail Services.
Assist with bulk mailings when needed and make daily run to Mail Services
Pick up Deposits from Buildings and take bank deposits to the bank.
Keep accurate and up-to-date maintenance records on District delivery van.
Assist Business Office with District Van inspections.
Deliver and pick up printing jobs from printer as needed.
Maintain a reliable attendance record.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority.
Requires eye/hand/arm coordination and dexterity of fingers and hands in keyboarding, calculating and fingering and grasping small objects normally weighing less than 10 lbs.
Frequent activity walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), lifting and moving heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more; use of fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in providing various services.
Requires eye/hand/foot coordination, finger and hand dexterity to respond to visual stimuli.
Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
Drug, tobacco, and alcohol free while working.
Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Predominantly outdoor work in all types of weather.
Exposed to hazards resulting from improper lifting, adverse driving conditions and related occupational hazards.
Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
At-will employee.
12-Month position.
Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.
Performance evaluated annually.
