Position Purpose:

Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care. Directs cares and provides guidance at scene. Performs vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.

What you will Do:

  • Conducts an initial and ongoing assessment to gather data relevant to each patient’s needs.

  • Identifies patient care needs and follows protocol.

  • Evaluates outcome of treatment and revises plan as needed.

  • Communicates relevant patient information.

  • Transports sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination, avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients.

  • Performs vehicle maintenance: Checks vehicles and performs maintenance or reports to head mechanic and checks and maintains all equipment within rig and reports discrepancies to manager.

  • Assists in audits and other clinical areas as needed.

  • Participates in public relations and educational activities.

Hours/Schedule:

.9 FTE; 72 hours per pay period; will include a weekend and holiday rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Course or National Paramedic Course.

  • Certified Iowa Paramedic or RN Exemption

  • Valid IA Class C driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

  • BLS provider, ACLS, PALS, Mandatory Reporter. (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.)

  • Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.

  • Ability to work with diverse group of people; ability to convey a positive image and build positive relationships with others; ability to work under pressure. Must pass pre-hire physical agility test.
