As a Parent Referral Specialist Coordinator , you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the day-today operations of the statewide parent referral services program. This includes ensuring high-quality services, effective collaboration with community partners and compliance with all rules and regulations as per applicable performance standards. This position will supervisor parent referral services staff.   • Ensure the effective implementation of the parent referral program, including proper assessment, referral coordination and follow-up procedures.

  • Assist parents/families in securing competent child care services through child care counseling and assure requests for child care services are addressed promptly with families.

  • Facilitate communication with consultants statewide on current updates, expectations, and potential needs for the parent referral program.

  • Maintain online referral system ensuring accurate listing of child care providers, including provider’s IQ4K (Iowa Quality for Kids) level.

  • Provide supervision and support of assigned staff, including hiring, coaching, training and performance management.

  • Provide information on services available within the community and state for families (i.e. Area Education Agency services, parent education/support groups, health services, etc.).

  • Advocate for the needs of families, children and youth in the community and workplace.

  • Conduct informational sessions and workshops for parents to increase their awareness of available resources.

  • Cultivate and maintain effective and positive partnerships with childcare providers, families, community organizations, and state and local partners to enhance services and network of available resources.

  • Demonstrate and promote sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity by providing consumer education and/or translations for non-English speaking families, as necessary.

  • Monitor and report outcomes of activities and performance measures as required/requested.

  • Identify areas for improvement to enhance service delivery.

  • A person who can work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of others, building strong and collaborative relationships.

  • Working knowledge of state child care licensing standards and registration guidelines for child care providers.

  • Knowledge of basic technical assistance and consultation practices.

  • Knowledge of community resources, family support services and child development.

  • Ability to think critically, make sound decisions, maintain composure and provide solutions and guidance during stressful situations.

  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to adapt to new applications and technology quickly.

  • Sense of humor and desire to positively contribute to team.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, family services, social work, or related field.

  • Two (2) years’ experience working in child care setting and/or child development.

  • One (1) years’ experience supervising and leading a team, preferably in a social service setting.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • A valid driver's license, good driving record and the ability to pass extensive background checks including but not limited to criminal, abuse and Medicaid exclusion.

    Location: The ideal candidate will be based in or nearby the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. However, this position may be able to work remotely part of the time but will require frequent travel to our Waterloo or other regional offices for collaboration and meetings.
