Title: Supervisor-Gear Manufacturing - 72951
As a Supervisor–Gear Manufacturing for Waterloo Works in Waterloo, Iowa, you will be responsible for leading a wage workforce to meet the manufacturing priorities based on the production schedule for Drivetrain Components. In addition you will:
Be responsible for leading a wage workforce to accomplish the safety, quality, delivery and efficiency goals through Continuous Improvement (CI) plans and activities.
Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
Lead safety through regular safety communications, driving engagement in the CI Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment process, prompt near miss reporting with a focus on quick, thorough safety corrective actions.
Monitor Control Plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems, and generally supervise production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements.
Lead employee engagement activities, while establishing a positive employee environment through communications, feedback and overall guidance.
Monitor individual/group performance and take corrective action including discipline, as needed and respond to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures and work

What Skills You Need
Experience in roles that required effective communication skills to interact with both wage/production and salaried employees
Experience in roles that required demonstration of strong problem-solving abilities and excellent teamwork skills
Experience with, or supporting, shop floor manufacturing and/or warehouse operation
Demonstrated team leadership skills
Experience communicating across functions (such as: supply management, engineering, operations and human resources)
Ability and flexibility to work across shifts based on production needs
Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of Quality and Production Systems, Lean Manufacturing and Demand Flow Manufacturing
Experience working with small project management teams that required demonstration of effective planning and organizational skills
Proficiency with standard computer applications (including Microsoft Office or equivalent)
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience with continuous improvement pay plans (CIPP) or similar incentive plans
Experience with wage/union employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules
Working knowledge of the CI continual improvement process and 5S methodology
Two or more years of manufacturing (Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Flow/Production Control) / supervisory experience
Working knowledge of component gear and shaft manufacturing and its process flow
Experience with gear and shaft measurement and inspection methods and equipment and identification and resolution of gear and shaft manufacturing problems
Experience working with manufacturing and IT system tools to execute day to day production.

Safety tools – SDS (Safety Data Sheet), Near Miss reporting, MEDGATE
Experience in roles that required a basic understanding of accounting principles in order to manage departmental budgets
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor of Arts/Science in an Engineering/Technology, Business Management or Manufacturing related discipline or equivalent work experience
