Terms of Employment:194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD

Position Criteria

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license.
  • K-8 Reading and K-8 Social StudiesOR5-8 Middle School GeneralistORMS Language Arts and MS Social StudiesOR5-12 ELA and 5-12 Social Studies or any appropriate combination
  • Will considerK-6 Elementaryendorsement with a conditional license
  • Knowledge of the middle level learner based on current research.
  • Reading endorsement preferred

Performance Criteria

  • Knowledge of the middle level learner based on current research.
  • Knowledge of literacy strategies based on current research.
  • Use of pedagogically appropriate/best practice instructional methods and a rigorous curriculum designedto prepareallstudents to achieve higher standards and become lifelong learners.
  • Demonstrateknowledge of PBIS, CCRS, inquiry, differentiating instruction, project-based learning, the use of data to guide instruction, standard-based reporting, leadership skill development,the Core, and 21st Century Skills.
  • Commitment to the team teaching concept; including integrated instruction as well as interdisciplinary instruction.
  • Contributing member of a Professional Learning Community and an understanding of key processes in a Professional Learning Community.
  • Ability to involve parents and communities in supporting student learning and healthy development.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development as described in the Iowa Professional Development Standards and support of the Iowa Teaching Standards as the foundation from which to build that ongoing growth plan.
