Waverly Health Center EMT or Paramedic 1.0 FTE in Waverly, Iowa

SCHEDULE FTE:1.0

This is a 24 hour on and 48 hour off schedule. Therefore it will require nights, weekends and holidays as they fall on the aforementioned schedule. REQUIREMENTS FOR EMT PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Provides care to sick and injured patients in pre-hospital settings. May provide care to patients having more complex medical or trauma problems in extenuating circumstances. Possesses broad-based clinical skills including communication, mentoring, advocacy, critical thinking, accountability for self, peers and others and assisting in maintaining a healthy work environment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education, Experience, and Training

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program and possess valid Iowa EMT certification.

  • Must possess valid Iowa Chauffeur’s License and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record.

  • Previous experience as an EMT preferred.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of emergency care equipment, vehicle operation and maintenance, and advanced EMT-P procedures.

  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.

  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

  • Physical Requirements

  • Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift.

  • Standing– Approximately 50% of shift.

  • Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.

  • Lifting – Approximately 50 pounds. Must use, and require others to use, when in hospital and/or pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.

  • Twisting – Infrequent.

  • Bending – Moderate.

  • Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.
