Job Description

Southeastern Community College is currently seeking two part-time E-Sports Gaming Room Coordinators for our new Gladiator E-Gaming Lounge.

The estimated hours are 20 to 30 per week with a flexible work schedule. Position start dates will be July 1, 2024, and August 5, 2024.

The Gladiator Lounge is Southeast Iowa’s premier E-gaming experience. Built within Southeastern Community College’s Blackhawk Tower dormitory, the lounge is open to students of SCC and the general public.

The lounge includes twenty individual E-gaming computers, plus a computer for the coordinator’s use. Computers are top of the line gaming computers and are served by a dedicated 1 gigabyte internet connection.

The lounge is truly a top-of-the-line experience for E-gamers of all interest levels. Patrons pay to use computers an hourly rate and enjoy ggLeap software, with access to the following games:

Essential Duties Summary

Position Responsibilities:

The coordinators will manage many aspects of the E-gaming experience. Position responsibilities include;

  • Opening and closing the lounge

  • Securing all equipment at closing

  • Managing all aspects of the E-gaming experience, including assisting with minor tech support, customer service and gaming advice.

  • Training and assisting staff

  • Light janitorial work (cleaning E-gaming stations after use)

  • Reporting technical problems to their supervisor

  • Monitoring lounge use to ensure appropriate conduct

  • Testing and evaluating new games

  • Acting as the Esports club advisor

  • Recruiting students to the club

  • Organizing and attending practices and competitions

  • Coaching the Esports club

  • Organizing and supporting E-gaming tournaments and events with high schools and other outside groups

  • Manage social media accounts

  • Additional planning and student life coordinating activities outside of E-gaming

  • Supervising student workers

Compensation

  • The coordinators will be paid an hourly rate of $15 while on duty, up to 30 hours weekly.

  • Southeastern Community College part time benefits apply

  • Coordinators will be allowed to game for free at all times while not on duty.

Required Qualifications

  • Esports experience and passion

  • Light technical computer knowledge

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule 20-30 hours per week

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to pass a background check
