Job Summary

The Communications Specialist collaborates with the Communications team to support district, school, and department initiatives. Duties include writing, editing, social media, and website management, marketing, knowledge and use of communications platforms, photography/videography, and graphic design.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create a variety of digital and print content for district, departments, and schools.

  • Uphold and maintain the brand platform and content standards for internal and external brand projects.

  • Help communicate district initiatives and updates to stakeholder groups.

  • Shoot, edit, and publish videos (interview, promotional, explainer, etc.) and photos (candid, action, portrait, stock, etc.).

  • Help manage district and school social media accounts. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all social media trends including working knowledge of paid and unpaid social media tools and tactics available to boost campaign engagement and results.

  • Support staff training and documentation to support the use of communication tools (i.e.: websites, mass notification tools, etc.).

  • Assist with emergency and crisis communication efforts.

  • Administer accounting procedures, purchase orders and supplies.

  • Occasionally support Board of Education meetings and events.

  • Complete all training as required and maintain professional growth.

  • Serve as representative on district and community committees and at meetings as requested.

  • Fulfill expectations for district employees including confidentiality and security.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
