We seek a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Computational Fellow with a focus on data science, bioinformatics, and data analytics. The successful candidate will lead innovative research projects, contribute to shared resources, mentor students, secure funded grants, and publish scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in data science, bioinformatics, and data analytics, focusing on key challenges in healthcare, biomedicine, and related areas.

  • Develop and implement novel computational methods, algorithms, and tools for analyzing complex biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and clinical data.

  • Design and build interactive dashboards and visualization tools to communicate research findings effectively.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computational techniques into research projects.

What we are looking for:

  • A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related discipline, with a strong background in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis.

  • Demonstrated expertise in applying data science techniques and methodologies to biomedical research problems, preferably in areas such as genomics, personalized medicine, or clinical informatics/big data.

  • Proven track record of securing research grants and funding from external sources, as well as a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, demonstrating research excellence and productivity.

  • Experience in mentoring and supervising graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, or research staff in research projects, including providing guidance, training, and support.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and

  • communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced research environment.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research and education, and a willingness to contribute to the academic community through service and outreach activities.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Java, along with experience with statistical analysis tools.

  • Strong expertise in developing and deploying bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.

  • Experience in developing interactive dashboards and visualization tools using platforms such as Tableau or Plotly.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with demonstrated experience in technology innovation and commercialization.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Track record of successful mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students in computational techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and secure research funding through grant writing.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
