Wells Fargo Lead Quantitative Analytics Specialist - ML / AI in WEST DES MOINES, Iowa

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Quantitative Analytics Specialist to join the Chief Administrative Office (CAO) Data Management and Insights (DMI), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Center of Excellence (AI/ML CoE). This candidate will be leading design, development and implementation of solutions utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI models.

As part of the model development team, you will be responsible for delivering solutions that meet business needs, as well as any efforts related to model documentation and reviews to ensure the modeling processes and procedures meet corporate model risk policies and requirements.

You will be leveraging unstructured text such as emails, text messages, transcripts, notes, and semi-structured data in combination with structured data to apply text analytics and AI/ML & NLP/Generative AI techniques. You will use open stack programming languages (primarily Python) and/or vendor solutions to develop models and deploy them on Wells Fargo's AI platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models using state of the art NLP and ML techniques available in the open stack and/or vendor solutions.

  • Communicate progress and results to key stakeholders.

  • Adhere to corporate model risk policy and ensure compliance with model risk management.

  • Lead a team of data scientist on projects and collaborate with other team data scientists to deliver modeling solutions and create modeling artifacts.

  • Contribute to NLP data science team group effort to stay concurrent with the cutting-edge NLP and Generative AI algorithms, methodologies in the open-source community and vendor solutions.

  • Work with Technology and Business partners to operationalize models.

  • Lead complex initiatives including creation, implementation, documentation, validation, articulation, and defense of highly statistical theory

  • Qualify monitor markets and forecast credit and operational risks

  • Strategize short and long-term objectives, and provide analytical support for a wide array of business initiatives

  • Utilize stochastic, structured securities, spread analysis, with the expertise in the theory and mathematics behind the analysis

  • Review and assess models inclusive of technical, audit, and market perspectives

  • Identify structure and scope of review

  • Enable decision making for product and marketing with broad impact and act as key participant to develop and document analytical models

  • Collaborate and consult with regulators and auditors

  • Present results of analysis and strategies

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Quantitative Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Machine Learning (ML) experience.

  • 5+ years of Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience.

  • Experience in Python NLP machine learning frameworks

  • Knowledge and understanding of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) modeling.

  • Experience with design, implementation, and governance of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing models.

  • Experience leading efforts with multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Project management experience.

  • GitHub experience
