About this Position A System Engineer at The Iowa Clinic is responsible for establishing stability, integrity and efficient operation to Information Systems that support core organizational functions. This role will ensure that system hardware and software are compatible and capable of required performance metrics set by internal Information Technology department and with outside vendors. This role will also be responsible for system support and upgrades/enhancements to existing software/hardware. A part of this role will also include defining needs and coordinating the efforts to locate, assess, install, test, maintain and document computer software/hardware systems Qualifications/Requirements - Associates or Bachelor’s degree required - MCSE preferred - Security experience is preferred - 6+ years of previous work related knowledge and experience preferred Essential Functions 1. Provides on-site software and hardware support assuring quality service to customer. 2. Consistently communicates with Manager, Vendors and IT Team on project progress. 3. Provides back-up support to the Network Engineer and other System Engineers 4. Create and maintain programmatic and documentation to insure efficient planning and execution 5. Manage and document System Configurations 6. Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities 7. Assists with Help-desk and PC-Tech support as needed 8. Coordinate system development tasks including design, integration and hardware 9. Develops and completes actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements 10. Update, monitor and patch software and server applications (Virus Protection, Windows, Firmware etc.) 11. Maintains appropriate documentation to support systems and job related tasks 12. Maintains working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of IT Systems, with an ability to perform other functions in the event of an absence or increased workload 13. Support server software/hardware including but not limited to installation, troubleshooting, maintenance 14. Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility and makes recommendations for changes to ensure compliance 15. Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model with all personnel 16. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and financial information
