The Senior Actuary, Inforce Management leads a team responsible for creating specifications and building tools that ensure the mathematical accuracy in inforce system enhancements and developing user friendly tools for use by operations and the inforce actuarial team. This team responds to all technical questions on inforce activities received from operations and executes the timely reporting of hedging activity. The incumbent in this role will exercise considerable discretion and judgment working under minimal guidance.


  • Leads a team that creates and maintains parallel Actuarial calculators as a source for administration system accuracy.

  • Serves as main point of contact for Competitive Agile team towards the purpose of new business system validation.

  • Leads the integration with the Illustration and New Business Product Calculation Owners to determine efficiencies in the test tools.

  • Applies principles of finance and mathematics in providing analytical support to Product and Operations.

  • Serves as subject matter expert on contract language relating to policy benefit calculation.

  • Acts as lead person in providing calculation support of policy administration, values and benefits and supports policyholder requests.

  • Requests, tests, and approves applicable system changes assisting with IT projects.

  • Researches policy information in policy administration system to ensure consistency with illustration calculations.

  • Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development.

  • Contributes to department-wide process improvement efforts, including training product team on company process improvement program tools and methodologies, identifying inefficiencies and developing and prioritizing corrective actions.

  • Provides related work direction to other junior product/actuarial analysts and interns.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, mathematics, statistics or other related field of study; or related field of study; plus six (10) years of progressively responsible actuarial/financial analysis or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.

  • Fixed Indexed Annuity product experience / general knowledge of policy values and benefit calculations.

  • Experience with MS Excel / Word / PowerPoint.


  • ASA or FSA


  • Deep understanding of actuarial science and the ability to apply this knowledge is critical.

  • Strong customer service orientation.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

  • Strong systems aptitude.

  • Advanced mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel and Access.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions on practical problems that deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
