Job Title: Wine & Spirits SupervisorDepartment: Wine & Spirits

FLSA: ExemptGeneral FunctionResponsible for the enhancement and growth of the Wine & Spirits business. Educates and trains staff on product features and merchandising techniques including shelving set up, product choice, and pricing. Responsible for set up and product purchase for Wine & Spirits departments at new stores.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs store visits to assist staff with merchandising ideas to increase sales and ensure store carry and aggressively merchandise private label products.

  • Keeps current on products by gathering information from vendors, store staff, and industry magazines.

  • Creates, plans, and performs Wine & Spirit and Coffee Department setup for new and remodeled stores.

  • Works with vendors on plan-o-grams.

  • Compiles and reviews data on department and store performance.

  • Works with vendors handling the private label products to ensure the highest quality at the lowest cost.

  • Attends and participates in departmental, company, and industry meetings.

  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Knowledge of wine & spirits.

  • College degree in business or marketing a plus.

  • One to five years related previous work experience required

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports)

  • Instructing, maintaining standards, and coordinating activities

Physical Requirements

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction

  • Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 50 pounds

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions

Working ConditionsThe duties for this position are normally conducted in a combination of office and store environments. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a day.

Equipment Used to Perform JobHand and power tools, PC with Microsoft Office programs, order machine, bass units, registers, telephone, copier, Telexon, and fax.

Financial ResponsibilityResponsible for ordering wine, spirits and cigars

ContactsHas daily contact with customers, the general public, and suppliers/vendors. Has frequent contact with governmental agencies for licensing paperwork and procedures. Has yearly contact with Federal/State governmental or regulatory agencies.

ConfidentialityHas access to confidential information including knowledge of employee issues, profit and loss statements, trust fund, and store operations
