Jones Contracting Corp. located at 1956 West Point Road, PO BOX 156, West Point, IA 52656, is seeking 4 temporary full-time Construction Laborers to work at 1956 West Point Road West Point, IA LEE 52656, Johnson, Muscatine, Mahska, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Wapello, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Davis, Van Buren, Lee, Monroe, and Poweshiek counties from 06/01/2024 to 11/22/2024 to Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs 75 yds. Must be able to handle temperature extremes. Must be able to accurately use and read a tape measure, handle temp extremes, follow directions, use hand and power tools, repetitive motions. Will travel to worksites daily within the area of intended employment. 3 months of concrete construction experience required. No prior education is required. On the job, training will be provided.

$21.56/hr. Approx. 40 hours/week, from Monday to Friday 6:30am - 5:30pm. Applicants may be offered higher than the advertised. The wage rate may vary on experience and/or merit. $32.35/hr for overtime. Up to 10 hours of overtime may be available but not guaranteed. All deductions from the workers paycheck will be made as required by law. The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages and pay Weekly by check. Any advances will be deducted with the consent of the employee.

The employer will provide housing as an option to employees living outside the regular commuting distance. Employees who elect to live in the housing will have an additional $100.00 deducted per Weekly paycheck for rent and utilities. Optional daily transportation will be provided from and to worksite and the employer will deduct $25 per week. In the first workweek, the cost of transportation (including meals and to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be directly reimbursed to every worker. If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work.

Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a workers voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. In the first workweek, daily subsistence for travel to the place of employment will be reimbursed at a rate of at least $15.88/day to a maximum of $59.00/day with receipts.

Also, workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
