Job Description

Woodward Resource Center, a State of Iowa Health & Human Services (HHS) facility, is a Custodial Worker to join our team. As a Custodial Worker, you will be responsible for general cleaning of various buildings and structures on our campus.

What You'll Do:

  • Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, wipe surfaces, dust surfaces, empty trash, vacuum, window washing, polishes furniture, counters, shelving, and window or door ledges and casings using cloths and mops with cleaning or polishing solutions.

  • Select and apply appropriate product for surfaces.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms in assigned areas.

  • Check and restock consumable supplies like toilet paper, towels, and soap.

  • Observe and check locked doors, electrical cords, and tripping/slipping hazards.

  • Move furniture and equipment for cleaning and redecorating by lifting and carrying light to heavy objects.

  • Customer and Personal Service - This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and pro-actively identifying and addressing cleaning issues.

  • Perform related duties as required.

Key Competencies:

Successful candidates for this position will demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Climb ladders or steps, stand, bend, stoop and move about.

  • Work in adverse weather conditions.

  • Follow directions and work independently.

  • Use safety precautions and equipment in the custodial trades.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

2) One year of full-time work experience in commercial building maintenance or housekeeping.
